Riders who want a proven, accurate smart trainer for structured training or virtual rides and are happy to fit their own cassette.
The Wahoo KICKR CORE is built around precision flywheel technology and Wahoo's own algorithms, aiming for a realistic, accurate and quiet ride. Connect it to your phone, tablet, computer or GPS bike computer and it controls the resistance automatically from the software or route, while recording power, speed, distance and cadence.
It handles up to 1800 W, simulates gradients from -10% to 16% and keeps power accuracy to +/- 2%. The steel frame is designed to stay planted through hard efforts. The trainer fits quick-release and thru-axle bikes using the adapters in the box, but no cassette is included, so you add an 8 to 12 speed cassette to suit your bike.
Automatic resistance
Resistance is set for you by your training app, workout or virtual route, up to a 16% climb and down to a minus 10% descent.
Power accurate to +/- 2%
Measures power, speed, distance and cadence, and connects by ANT+ FE-C or up to three Bluetooth connections.
QR and thru-axle ready
Adapters and spacers in the box cover 130/135 mm quick-release and 12x142 and 12x148 thru-axle bikes, including disc brake bikes.
Robust steel build
Steel construction is designed to keep the trainer stable and stand up to years of hard use.
Performance
Fit, connectivity and setup
Great for
Maybe not for
Suits bikes with 130 or 135 mm quick-release rear hubs and 12x142 or 12x148 thru-axle rear ends; the matching drive-side adapters and hub spacers are supplied. It takes 8, 9, 10, 11 and 12 speed cassettes, but none is supplied, so choose one that matches your bike's chain and shifters. Maximum rider weight is 113 kg (250 lb).
Sort the cassette before your first ride
The trainer ships without a cassette or wheel block, so the usual first-ride snag is a mismatch with your bike. Fit a cassette with the same number of speeds as your bike's chain and shifters, then choose the drive-side adapter that matches your rear axle (quick-release or thru-axle) and follow Wahoo's setup steps.
