Riders and mechanics keeping cantilever-braked bikes in good working order.
On cantilever brakes, the main brake cable pulls up on a straddle cable that runs between the two brake arms. This cable bridge (also called a yoke or carrier) is the part that clamps the main cable and holds the straddle cable.
It's made from alloy with a black finish, and is a handy fix for older mountain bikes, touring bikes and cyclocross bikes that still run cantis.
Swap it in when the old bridge is cracked, the clamp bolt has rounded, or the part has gone missing during a brake overhaul.
Cantilever fit
Links the main cable to the straddle cable.
Alloy body
Light and corrosion resistant.
Black finish
Suits most older frames.

Works with a standard straddle cable on cantilever brakes. Check your straddle cable is in good shape when fitting.
Setting the height
Where the bridge sits on the main cable changes how the brake feels. A lower bridge gives more power and a softer lever, a higher one gives a firmer lever. Aim for the straddle cable to meet the arms at close to a right angle, then adjust pad clearance at the lever barrel.
