Trail and cross-country riders on SRAM Guide or G2 brakes who want quiet, strong braking in dry conditions.
SRAM's Medium pad is the shape used in its popular four-piston trail brakes: Guide, G2, Level Stealth 4-piston and the older Avid Trail. This set uses SRAM's Powerful organic compound on a steel backing plate.
Organic pads are quiet, bed in quickly and have lots of initial bite. SRAM's Powerful version adds a bit more stopping power over its standard quiet organic, which suits aggressive cross-country and trail riding in mostly dry conditions.
Like all organic pads they wear quicker than sintered and are not at their best in wet, muddy weather. If you ride in the mud a lot or do big descents, look at SRAM's heavy duty sintered pad instead.

Powerful organic
SRAM's grey-plate organic compound. Quiet with plenty of initial bite and a short bed-in, with a bit more power than the standard quiet organic pad.
Great for
Maybe not for
Fits SRAM Guide, G2 and Level Stealth 4-piston brakes and Avid Trail. Guide RE and G2 RE take the Large pad, not this one.
Changing compound
If you are switching from sintered to organic, SRAM recommends fitting new rotors too, then bedding everything in. Pad material left on an old rotor can cause noise and poor power.
Push the pistons back
Before fitting new pads, clean the caliper and gently push the pistons back with a plastic tyre lever so the thicker pads slide in without rubbing.
