Riders who hot wax their chains and want an easier way to prep new ones.
Waxing a new chain normally starts with a long solvent strip to get rid of the factory grease. SILCA StripChip replaces that step: it's a degreasing additive that binds with the grease and turns it into wax while the chain soaks.
Each bar breaks into six 12 g pieces, and one piece does one chain. It's designed to work with SILCA Super Secret Chain Blend hot melt wax, and you can keep using the same pot of wax for future waxings.
No degreasing prep
New chains go straight into the hot wax.
Six doses
A bar of six 12 g pieces, one per chain.
Keeps your wax pot going
Reuse the same wax for future waxings.
Made for SILCA wax
Designed around Super Secret hot melt wax.
Product
Grease binding additive
Each piece binds with the factory grease on a new chain and turns it into wax, so the wax can get into the pins and rollers without a solvent strip first.
Great for
Maybe not for
It's an additive for hot melt wax, not a lube on its own. SILCA's method uses one piece in about 300 g of wax.
Get the temperature right
SILCA's method is one piece in about 300 g of hot wax, brought up to around 125°C so the chip activates. Soak the chain for about 10 minutes with a stir at the start and end, then drop the temperature back before lifting it out to hang and cool.
