Overview

Home mechanics and workshops who want a general-purpose penetrating oil, moisture displacer and lubricant in one aerosol.

Shred Ultraglide is Shred Bike Care's premium penetrating oil and corrosion inhibitor. It is also an excellent moisture displacer with high levels of lubrication, and Shred says it suits all workshop environments and applications. The can lists what it does (reduces friction, displaces moisture, inhibits corrosion) and that it is made in Australia.

The 350 g aerosol comes with a directional straw applicator for precise placement, or you can use the fan spray. Shake the can, spray sparingly on the part, and on rusted or threaded parts let it penetrate for a while before you apply force. It is a concentrated formula, so a little goes a long way. Test on painted surfaces first, and note that the can is extremely flammable.

Who it's for

Great for

  • General workshop use, from stubborn threaded or rusted parts to moisture-prone metal
  • Mechanics who want a concentrated formula that goes a long way

Maybe not for

  • Riders looking for a dedicated chain lube, since this is a general workshop lubricant
  • Use near a flame or ignition source, or getting near brake rotors and pads, as with any spray lubricant

One size: a 350 g aerosol can.

Worth knowing

Spray sparingly, and keep it off the brakes

Shred's directions say to shake the can well and spray sparingly, using the straw for precise placement. On rusted or threaded parts, give it time to penetrate before you apply force, and test on painted surfaces first. As with any spray lubricant, keep it away from brake rotors and pads, and keep the can away from flames and sources of ignition.
