Overview

A practical choice for riders replacing a worn mechanical caliper on an entry-level MTB, hybrid or other bike using long-pull levers and compatible CENTER LOCK equipment.

The Shimano Tourney TX BR-TX805 is a mechanical disc brake caliper for the front or rear of a compatible bike. It uses cable actuation, so it is a sensible choice when you want straightforward installation and easy workshop adjustment without hydraulic bleeding. The caliper is designed for long-pull MTB levers, including compatible V-BRAKE BL levers.

On the trail or during everyday riding, the TX805 delivers smooth, light action and reliable braking performance. Its 20% wider pad clearance than the BR-M416-A helps reduce the chance of pad-rubbing noise, while the clean cable-routing design works with both chainstay and seatstay mounting positions.

This caliper uses resin pads only and is compatible with Shimano CENTER LOCK rotors in 160 mm or 180 mm sizes. It supports compatible SM-RT10 and SM-RT26 rotors, but the rotor and frame or fork mount adaptor are not included, so check your bike’s mounting standard, lever pull and existing rotor before ordering.

Mechanical cable actuation

Use your existing compatible cable-operated setup, with no hydraulic bleeding required.

Smooth, light action

Designed to provide dependable braking with an easy lever feel for everyday riding.

Wider pad clearance

The clearance is 20% wider than BR-M416-A, helping reduce unwanted pad-rubbing noise.

Front or rear fitment

The same caliper design can be used at either end of the bike when the mounting and rotor standards match.

Resin-pad compatible

Designed for resin pads only, including the listed BP-B05S-RX replacement pad.

160 mm or 180 mm rotors

Supports these rotor sizes, giving you a clear compatibility check when replacing an existing caliper.

Clean cable routing

The routing arrangement works with both chainstay and seatstay mounting positions for a tidier installation.

CENTER LOCK system

Designed for Shimano CENTER LOCK rotor systems; check that your existing rotor and mount adaptor are compatible.
