Home mechanics bleeding their own Shimano disc brakes.
The Shimano TL-BR001 syringe unit is made for filling, flushing and bleeding Shimano hydraulic disc brakes. It connects the syringe hose to the caliper's bleed nipple so you can push fresh mineral oil up through the system.
Shimano designed it to limit leaks and drips, with a reliable threaded tube connection, a hose clip, and a larger syringe with smooth action. It suits Shimano MTB, trekking and road disc brakes that use one-way bleeding.

Maybe not for
For Shimano hydraulic disc brakes. You will also need Shimano mineral oil and a bleed funnel for the lever.
Mineral oil only
Shimano brakes use mineral oil. Never put DOT fluid through this syringe or your brakes, as it destroys the seals.
Protect your rotors and pads
Take the wheel out and pads out before bleeding. Any oil on pads ruins them, so wrap the caliper in a rag while you work.
The workshop standard for over a century.
Shimano started as a small ironworks in Sakai, Japan in 1921 and grew into the world's biggest maker of bicycle components.
Alongside its groupsets, Shimano makes the dedicated service tools its own parts are designed around, which is why so many workshops keep a drawer of blue-and-grey TL tools.
