Road, fitness and commuter riders on a 10-speed Shimano drivetrain who spend most of their time on flat to rolling roads and like tight gear steps.
This is the CS-HG500-10 in the 11-25T version: ten steel sprockets running 11-12-13-14-15-17-19-21-23-25T. It is a close-ratio cassette, with one-tooth steps from 11T to 15T, so each shift changes your cadence only a little. Shimano says its lightweight sprocket carrier delivers smooth gear steps across the 10-speed range.
It fits HG spline M freehub bodies and runs on HG-X 10-speed or HG 10-speed chains. Shimano's road compatibility chart lists it for 10-speed Tiagra 4700 and 4600, 105 5700 and Ultegra 6700 drivetrains, and a 25T largest sprocket pairs with short-cage derailleurs such as the RD-4700-SS.

This is the 11-25T. Shimano also lists the CS-HG500-10 in 12-28T, 11-32T and 11-34T. A 25T largest sprocket suits a short-cage derailleur, so check your derailleur's capacity.
Check the derailleur's capacity
Shimano rates its short-cage RD-4700-SS for a 25T to 28T largest sprocket, and the RD-5701-SS and RD-4601-SS for 25T to 30T, so an 11-25T sits inside those ranges. Tighten the lock ring to the 40 N·m marked on it, and use a 10-speed chain.
