Riders with Claris equipped road, gravel or flat bar bikes who need a replacement or upgrade 8-speed rear derailleur.
The Shimano Claris RD-R2000-SS is the short cage rear derailleur from Shimano's 8-speed Claris R2000 road group. It takes design cues from Shimano's higher road groups, with a light shift feel and a compact, tidy body.
It is built for double chainsets and handles cassettes up to 32T with a 16T front difference, such as a 50/34 crank. A built-in cable adjuster makes indexing quick to dial in.
If your Claris derailleur is bent or worn after a crash or years of commuting, this is the straight swap. Bring the bike in and we can check the hanger alignment at the same time.

Great for
Maybe not for
Needs an 8-speed road shifter, 8-speed cassette up to 32T and a double chainset. Chain length usually needs checking when a derailleur is changed.
Check the hanger first
A bent derailleur usually means a bent hanger too. Getting the hanger straightened or replaced before fitting a new derailleur is the difference between crisp shifting and constant fiddling.
Cage length matters
SS is the short cage. If you're running a big 34T cassette or a triple, you'll need a longer cage model instead, so check your cassette before ordering.
