A practical choice for riders with smaller hands, or anyone replacing a right-hand Shimano hydraulic disc brake lever and wanting adjustable short-reach ergonomics.
The Shimano BL-UR405 is a right-hand hydraulic disc brake lever with a three-finger blade and SHORT REACH ergonomics. Its starting position sits closer to the handlebar than conventional designs, helping riders with smaller hands reach the brake more comfortably and maintain better control. The lever reach is adjustable, so you can fine-tune the position for your hand size and riding preferences.
This lever uses SHIMANO Mineral Oil, a straight hose connection and the SM-BH59-JK-SS brake hose specification. Funnel bleeding supports straightforward servicing, while the J-Kit specification is designed to simplify original-equipment installation and hose connection. The recommended matching calliper is the BR-MT410.
Choose the BL-UR405 when comfortable lever access matters, especially for a smaller-handed rider or a bike being set up around Shimano’s SHORT REACH ergonomics. It mounts with a clamp band and can be paired with a SHORT REACH shifting lever for a more consistent cockpit setup.
