105 FC-5800 owners with a silver 53-39T crank who need to replace a worn or damaged big ring.
This is the 53 tooth outer chainring for the Shimano 105 FC-5800 11-speed road crankset in silver. It uses the 110 mm, 4-arm asymmetric bolt pattern that Shimano introduced with the 5800 and 6800 generation.
It's designed for the 53-39T combination, so it pairs with the FC-5800 39T-MD inner ring. Using the matched Shimano pair keeps the shift ramps and pins lined up, which is what gives Shimano front shifting its crisp feel.
Rings wear out slowly with the chain and cassette. If you're replacing a worn chain and cassette and the big ring's teeth have started to hook, it's worth doing the ring at the same time.

Compatibility
Great for
Maybe not for
Outer ring for 53-39T on 110 mm 4-arm asymmetric cranks (FC-5800). Pair with the 39T-MD inner ring. Not for 50-34T or 52-36T combinations.
Line up the ring
The 4-arm asymmetric pattern only fits one way, and the ring has a chain-drop pin that should sit behind the crank arm. Tighten the chainring bolts evenly in a star pattern to Shimano's torque.
Check your front derailleur
After fitting, check the front derailleur height and limit screws. The outer cage should clear the 53T teeth by roughly 1 to 3 mm.
