Overview

Kids around 5 to 8 years old, roughly 114 to 132 cm tall, who want to ride dirt paths, gravel and easy trails as well as the street.

The Neo Disc+ 20 is built for kids who are ready to explore beyond the bike path. A 20 inch suspension fork with 40 mm of travel and lockout smooths out bumpy dirt, then locks firm for climbing hills or riding on the road.

Mechanical disc brakes with 160 mm rotors and short-reach alloy levers give small hands strong, reliable stopping in any weather, while Shimano 6-speed gearing with an easy-to-use Revoshift twist shifter helps on hills. Wide 20 x 2.125 knobby tyres add grip and comfort on loose surfaces.

Neo's Gen 3 hydroformed alloy frame keeps weight down and has a low standover height for confidence. This one is finished in Neo's brushed alloy with a chrome livery, matched with matte black bars, levers and spokes.

Who it's for

Great for

  • Kids aged about 5 to 8
  • Gravel paths, dirt tracks and easy trails
  • Kids ready to learn gears

Maybe not for

  • Kids under about 114 cm (look at a 16 inch bike)
  • Serious mountain bike trails or jumps

Neo recommends this 20 inch bike for ages 5 to 8 and rider heights of 114 to 132 cm. Your child should be able to stand over the bike with both feet flat on the ground. Bring them in for a test ride and fit.

Worth knowing

Using the lockout

Show your child how to flick the fork lockout on for smooth roads and hills and off for bumpy dirt. It's a simple lever on top of the fork leg.

First gear lessons

Teach them to shift before a hill, not halfway up it. Six gears are plenty to learn on, and the twist shifter is easy for small hands.
