Overview

Kids of roughly 5 to 8 years and 114 to 132 cm tall riding mostly flat paths, streets and parks.

The Neo+ 20 is built for kids stepping up to a 20 inch bike who want to ride, not fiddle with gears. Its single-speed drivetrain lets them focus on balance, braking and steering around flatter neighbourhoods and bike paths.

The GEN 3 lightweight alloy frame has a lowered bottom bracket and curved top tube, so the stand-over is low and kids can easily put a foot down. A light bike is easier to start, stop and handle, which builds confidence fast.

Stopping is taken care of by a coaster rear brake plus a short-reach front brake lever sized for small hands. A full-cover chain guard, Kraton grips, a youth saddle and a kickstand round it out, all in a glossy Chrome Red finish.

Low stand-over

GEN 3 frame makes it easy to get on, off and put a foot down.

Light alloy build

Alloy frame, fork, rims and bar keep weight down.

Two ways to stop

Back-pedal coaster brake plus a short-reach front lever.

Full-cover chain guard

Keeps fingers and trousers away from the chain.

Kickstand included

Parks neatly at school or home.

Technology

GEN 3 frame

A lowered bottom bracket and curved top tube bring the stand-over height down and lower the centre of gravity, helping kids feel stable.

Chrome finish

Neo's brushed alloy look layered with a bright chrome colour.

Who it's for

Great for

  • First 20 inch bike
  • Flat suburbs, bike paths and parks
  • Kids still learning to use hand brakes

Maybe not for

  • Hilly areas where gears help (see the Neo+ 20 6s)
  • Rough trails (see the Neo Disc+ 20 with suspension)

Neo recommends 20 inch bikes for about 5 to 8 years and 114 to 132 cm. Kids should be able to touch the ground on tiptoes when seated.

Worth knowing

Coaster brake tip

A coaster brake works by pedalling backwards, so kids can't backpedal to find a good starting position. Teach them to lift the pedal with their foot or hand before pushing off, and practise using the front hand brake gently alongside it.
