Commuters and fitness riders on 27.5 inch wheels who ride mostly on sealed roads and paths.
The Maxxis Detonator is a long-running favourite for riders who want their bike to feel quick on the road. This 27.5 x 1.50 version fits 584 mm (650B) rims, so it's a popular swap for mountain bikes that spend most of their time on bitumen.
It has a wire bead, a 60 TPI single compound casing and a SilkWorm breaker beneath the tread for extra puncture and tear resistance. The low profile tread and 80 psi maximum pressure keep rolling resistance down.
It also suits hybrids and some older bikes that run 26 x 1 1/2 (584) tyres, as long as the rim size matches.

Great for
Maybe not for
Fits 584 mm (27.5 inch / 650B) rims. Check the rim's ETRTO before buying, and note 1.50 inches is much narrower than a typical MTB tyre, so a 27.5 x 1.50 tube suits best.
Tube size matters
When you swap from knobbies to this slick, fit a narrower tube to match. An oversized tube folds inside the tyre and is more likely to pinch or blow out.
