Riders who want a low-mess, dry chain and are happy to remove and clean the chain before each wax.
HALO Hot Wax is Finish Line's dip-your-chain wax, built on highly refined paraffin with spherical tungsten and ceramic boron nitride particles. The result is a dry-to-the-touch coating that resists picking up dirt, cuts friction, and is meant to go a long way between re-waxes.
The 600 g bag is the melting pot: boil it in water, dunk a clean chain with the supplied immersion tool for three minutes or more, then hang it to dry for about half an hour. Finish Line says the bag holds enough for roughly 25 chains and that the formula is free of PFAS.
Boil-in-bag wax
No wax pot needed: the reusable bag goes in boiling water.
Immersion tool included
Makes dipping and lifting out the chain simple.
Tungsten and ceramic
Spherical tungsten and boron nitride platelets alongside refined paraffin.
About 25 chain dips
600 g of wax pellets, and the formula is PFAS-free.
Product
Kit and use
Highly refined paraffin
Forms a robust dry-to-the-touch coating that does not attract and hold the grit that wears drivetrains.
Spherical tungsten
Tiny hollow-core spheres that the maker says reduce vibrational friction under hard pedalling.
Ceramic boron nitride
Micron-sized platelets that coat the chain with a protective, non-stick layer.
Great for
Maybe not for
One 600 g bag with immersion tool, good for about 25 dips. Remove and fully degrease the chain first, as the maker says to clean it completely before waxing.
Clean chain, clean result
Wax only bonds well to bare metal, so degrease the chain thoroughly and let it dry. Keep wax and hot water away from little ones, and let the bag cool before handling.
