Overview

A beginner or recreational rider looking for a stable first mountain bike for mild trails and gravel paths; the XL geometry is recommended for approximately 180–190 cm riders.

The Apollo Xpert 20 is an approachable 29er hardtail mountain bike designed for riders beginning to explore local trails, gravel paths and mild cross-country terrain. Its lightweight 6061 alloy frame uses taper wall construction to balance strength and weight, while internal cable routing keeps the finish tidy and helps limit exposure to trail dirt.

Out on the trail, the big wheels carry momentum smoothly across uneven ground and help the bike feel settled when the surface becomes loose or rough. The RST Gila fork with 100 mm of travel adds front-end comfort and control, with preload adjustment to help you tailor the feel. A 2 x 8-speed Shimano drivetrain gives you straightforward gearing for rolling terrain and climbs, while the 36/22T crankset and 12–32T cassette provide useful low gears when the gradient rises.

When it is time to slow down, Tektro HD-M275 hydraulic disc brakes with 160 mm rotors offer consistent stopping control across changing surfaces and conditions. The 29 x 2.1-inch Kenda tyres, double-wall alloy rims and supplied platform pedals make this a ready-to-ride choice for recreational off-road adventures. Choose the Xpert 20 if you want a stable, capable first mountain bike without stepping into specialist trail-bike territory.

29er alloy frame

The lightweight 6061 alloy frame is shaped around 29-inch wheels for smooth rolling and good momentum across uneven recreational terrain.

100 mm suspension fork

The RST Gila fork helps take the edge off rougher surfaces and includes preload adjustment for a more personalised ride feel.

Shimano 2 x 8-speed gearing

Simple, dependable Shimano shifting gives you practical ratios for flat paths, rolling trails and steady climbs.

Hydraulic disc brakes

Tektro HD-M275 brakes with 160 mm rotors provide controlled braking when the trail gets loose, wet or steeper.

Internal cable routing

Cables run inside the frame for a cleaner appearance and less exposure to dirt and trail debris.

29 x 2.1-inch tyres

Kenda tyres provide a useful balance of rolling efficiency and off-road grip for gravel and mild cross-country riding.

Double-wall alloy wheels

The 29-inch double-wall disc rims and stainless spokes provide a durable wheel platform for everyday recreational riding.

Five frame sizes

Sizes from 15.5 inches to 22 inches make it easier to find a suitable fit, with the 20.5-inch XL recommended for approximately 180–190 cm riders.
