Riders with a 39T to 53T chainset who want a little extra protection against dropped chains.
This is a chain drop protector in black alloy, made for chainsets with 39T to 53T chainrings. It is a slim arm with a bent lip that sits beside the chainrings to help stop the chain dropping off if a rough shift or a bump throws it.
The photo shows the arm with its fixing bolts, washers and oval plate. It is a small part that adds a bit of insurance against a dropped chain.

Made for chainrings from 39T to 53T. After fitting, check the arm clears the rings, the chain and the crank all the way round.
Check clearance all the way round
After fitting, turn the cranks by hand through several full turns and shift between the rings. The arm should never touch the chain or the rings. If it rubs, adjust it, because a protector that touches will be noisy and can wear the chain.
