Owners of vintage and classic road bikes who need a replacement front wheel in the 27 x 1 1/4 inch size.
This is a ready-to-fit 27 x 1 1/4 inch front wheel for older road bikes, touring bikes and classic ten speeds. It is built on an Alex AP-18 single-wall alloy rim in silver, laced with 36 Mach1 silver spokes to a silver Joytech road profile hub.
The hub runs on loose ball cup and cone bearings and uses a 100 mm quick release axle, so it drops straight into a standard road fork. The alloy rim has a braking track for rim brakes, which is what nearly every bike of this era uses.
The 27 inch size (630 mm) is slightly larger than 700c (622 mm), so it is worth checking your tyre sidewall before ordering. If it reads 27 x 1 1/4 or 32-630, this is the wheel you need.

Great for
Maybe not for
Needs a fork with 100 mm dropout spacing and a rim brake that can reach a 630 mm rim. Uses 27 x 1 1/4 inch tyres and tubes. Tyre, tube, rim tape and skewer fitment should be checked when fitting.
Check the size before you buy
27 inch and 700c look almost identical but are 8 mm different in rim diameter. Look for 27 x 1 1/4 or 32-630 on your tyre. If your brakes are adjusted for a 27 inch rim they will not reach a 700c rim properly, and the reverse is also true.
Give the bearings a once-over
Loose ball hubs benefit from a quick check after the first few rides. If you feel any play at the rim, a small cone adjustment sorts it out, and we're happy to do it for you.
